Tzippy is a Registered Dietitian whose interest in nutrition and health started from a young age. Growing up, she watched family members struggle with weight, turning to fad diets to help them achieve their (unsustainable) goals. Needless to say, this influenced her own problematic obsession with weight and body image throughout her teen years. Once she started to learn the science behind nutrition and food, she realized the importance of fueling her body with adequate macro and micronutrients and the role nutrition plays in achieving overall health across the lifespan.
To lay a foundation in health before focusing on nutrition, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University. Gaining an understanding of human movement and the relationship between physical activity and health provided her with a well-rounded approach to helping future clients in nutrition. After all, nutrition is at the core of living a healthy lifestyle.
Following her Kinesiology degree, she completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition and Food at Ryerson University. She then did her dietetic training in the collaborative Professional Masters Diploma (PMDip) in Dietetics Program with North York General Hospital and Ryerson University.
Tzippy took an interest in diabetes early in her career, volunteering throughout her education in a diabetes education centre and then working as a diabetes educator in 2019 at a community health centre. She became a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) in 2020, which allows her to guide all forms of diabetes management, including blood sugar checks, insulin administration, medication adjustments and healthy lifestyle changes.
She believes food plays an integral role in people’s lives, impacting physical, mental, and spiritual health. Her passion lies in helping individuals repair their relationship with food through education and an individualized, collaborative approach to determining the WHY behind their lifestyle choices. She has also seen the positive impacts weight loss can have on the quality of life when done in a healthy and sustainable way. It can change people’s lives who live with chronic diseases like diabetes. But she has also seen the mental and physical damage that “dieting” can have in those who battle eating disorders/disordered eating. Achieving the best version of yourself looks different for everyone, with no one size fits all approach. This is why she’s dedicated to helping people across ALL facets of nutrition, from eating disorder recovery to healthy weight management.
Outside of work, Tzippy loves to travel whenever she gets the chance. She’s a major foodie and enjoys trying out different recipes in the kitchen. When she’s not eating or travelling, you will likely find her spending time with her family and friends, working out, snuggling with her Old English Sheepdog, reading a good book, or watching The Office.
