In Canada, naturopaths are regulated under the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). Typically, naturopaths have completed a 4-year training program that combines education and supervised clinical study.

Naturopaths are educated on nutrition, but their education focuses on supplements and medications.

The term ‘registered dietitian’ is a protected title, and a dietitian is a regulated healthcare practitioner who has:

  1. completed at least a 4-year university dietetics degree from an accredited university,
  2. has completed a dietetic internship and
  3. who has passed the Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam.

Dietitians follow an evidence-based approach to nutrition and supplement advice and can support clients with more than 100 health concerns and conditions.
